Laure Prouvost

Laure Prouvost (France, 1978) is an artist whose practice centers on immersive multimedia installations, working across sound, video, sculpture, painting, music, and short film. Her work explores the nature of memory and perception, as well as the incorporation of autobiographical elements.

Her artistic practice is characterized by the creation of environments that combine different media to transport viewers into imaginative, surreal settings. In her installations, she juxtaposes nonlinear narrative techniques with ambiguous visual elements to challenge the interpretation of one’s surroundings and generate sensory experiences. One example of this approach is the installation "Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre", conceived as a labyrinth of darkened rooms that integrates video, sculpture, music, and sound into an immersive narrative.

She has presented her work at the Venice Biennale (2019), as well as at institutions including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and MoMA PS1 in New York. In 2013, she was awarded the Turner Prize for "Wantee", an installation comprising a short film, a painting, and a sculpture inspired by a fictional grandmother. Leer menos
