Against monochrome backgrounds, Lisardo Menéndez (Mieres, 1960) composes still, enigmatic, and dynamic structures in a completely personal style. The order, balance, and simplicity of his paintings immerse us in a pictorial constructivism in which black, white, and red predominate in a geometric abstraction with subtle figurative allusions to architectural forms. Minimalism and avant-garde come together in the theatricality of his compositions.
The artist has exhibited in Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal, and has participated in contemporary art fairs such as Art Madrid, Foro Sur, ARCO, Art Lisboa, and Arte Santander. He has also received awards such as the 19th Nicanor Piñole Competition Prize and the FLC International Prize.
