Medina Campeny (Matanzas, Cuba, 1985) is a contemporary artist who works primarily in painting and drawing. She graduated from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba, and has since participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world. Campeny's style is characterized by her use of the human figure as a means of exploring social and political issues. Her works are often introspective, enigmatic, and mysterious, and utilize a soft color palette and pastel tones to create an ethereal and surreal atmosphere. Furthermore, her drawing and painting techniques display a mastery of line and composition. Campeny has received several awards and recognition for her work, including the ArtNexus International Residency Grant in New York in 2017 and First Prize at the Cuenca Biennial, Ecuador, in 2018. She has also been an artist-in-residence at Harvard University in the United States and the Sacatar Institute in Brazil. Her work has been exhibited at major art institutions around the world, including the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Havana, the Wifredo Lam Center for Contemporary Art in Havana, the Monterrey Museum of Contemporary Art in Mexico, and the Joan Prats Gallery in Barcelona, Spain.
