Norman Morales is a visual artist and sculptor born in Puerto Rico in 1968. He currently resides in Seville, Spain, where he has developed much of his artistic career. Morales is known for his multidisciplinary work, which ranges from sculpture to painting, installation, and video art. Morales's work focuses on the exploration of themes such as identity, memory, history, and culture. He often uses recycled materials and found objects in his works, which in turn address consumerism and the consumer society. His sculptures and objects, created from scrap and abandoned materials, have a strong social and political character. Among the awards Norman Morales has received are the National Prize for Plastic Arts of Puerto Rico in the sculpture category in 2000, the Sculpture Prize at the Cerveira Biennial, Portugal in 2003 and the Sculpture Prize at the Florence Biennial, Italy in 2005. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico, the Andalusian Center for Contemporary Art in Spain and the Ponce Museum of Art in Puerto Rico.
