Santiago Serrano (Toledo, 1942) is one of the most prominent artists of contemporary Spanish painting, becoming a key figure in the field of abstract art in Spain. His work is a constant exploration of the elements and processes of painting and printmaking, creating unique pieces that combine traditional techniques with the possibilities offered by new image digitalization technologies. Among the awards he has received throughout his career are the Juan March Foundation Scholarship (1968), the National Engraving Prize (1996), and the Jury Prize at the 4th International Engraving Triennial in Egypt (2003).
