Vari Caramés was born in Ferrol, A Coruña, in 1953. At fifteen, his father gave him a fully manual Voigtlander camera to photograph his paintings and wrought iron pieces. Later, he used photography as a medium to complete the drawing exercises for his Technical Architecture studies (which he never completed). He never intended to make a living from photography, but now he can't live without it. He is particularly interested in making something ordinary and mundane seem extraordinary. He seeks to suggest, evoke, and make the viewer dream: reality, as it is, is recalcitrant to him. He is an independent photographer, uninterested in fashions or trends. He currently uses both black and white and color interchangeably.
