Yoshitomo Nara is a Japanese artist (Hirosaki, Japan, 1959), known for his childlike figures with intense gazes and ambiguous expressions. His work includes painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, and has gained wide international recognition.

His work brings together references to childhood, loneliness, music, popular culture, and personal memory. Through apparently simple figures, Nara creates images of great emotional intensity, where vulnerability, rebellion, and introspection coexist. His visual language, with clear lines and restrained backgrounds, carries a strong psychological charge.

His works are part of collections such as MoMA, SFMOMA, and Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. His work has been shown in institutions such as Yokohama Museum of Art, Asia Society Museum in New York, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Museum Frieder Burda, and Hayward Gallery.
