Estefanía Martín Sáenz (Bilbao, 1982). Estefanía Martín Sáenz's work is characterized by its exploration of the relationship between space, light, and matter. Using superposition and transparency techniques in her paintings, she creates lighting effects that suggest three-dimensional, changing spaces. In her sculptures and installations, she uses materials such as glass, steel, and concrete to create objects that play with light and reflection. One of the recurring themes in Estefanía Martín Sáenz's work is the ephemeral nature of reality and human perception. Using elements such as shadow, light, and color, she explores how our perception of reality can be deceptive and subjective. Following her participation in Just LX Lisbon, Estefanía was awarded the 1st Fundação Millennium bcp Emerging Art Acquisition Prize for her triptych "Mala Hierba" (Bad Grass) and the 2nd "La Rural" Painting and Plastic Arts Prize for her work "La mala hierba también muere" (Bad Grass Also Dies). In 2016, she won the Martínez Guerricabeitia Foundation Acquisition Award for her work The Ravens Who Worshipped Women, in which she invented the story of the Celtic goddess Morrigan and the ravens. In 2015, she received the DKV-MAKMA Drawing Award for her work The Absent, exhibited at the Centre del Carme in Valencia. In 2018, she showcased her project in the 15th edition of the Conexiones program at the Museo ABC, with the solo exhibition Mourning and Luxury. This year, she presented her Masks at the Centro de Arte Alcobendas in Madrid.
