Roger Sanguino was born in Venezuela in 1968. He began his training in the visual arts in Caracas, attending the Federico Brandt Art Institute and the Arte & Fuego School Workshop from 1990 to 1996. From then on, he began participating in official regional and national competitions throughout Venezuela.

In his early days, drawing and painting formed the disciplines in which he embarked on his personal quest, exploring the theme of biological diversity in animal species, which he also developed in the field of fused glass.

In 2003, Roger Sanguino embarked on a journey to Barcelona, Spain, where he completed formal studies at the Escola Massana de Barcelona: the Advanced Vocational Training Course in Painting (2003–2006), and later the Advanced Vocational Training Course in Sculpture (2011–2014). While pursuing his studies, he participated in various artistic competitions, including competitions, biennials, and art fairs, both in Spain and abroad.

His contact with Barcelona sparked his interest in subjects other than animal symbolism. The theme of portraiture appears in his painting, which he develops through persistent creation of memory portraits, which he uses to create mosaic-like compositions.

Later, his portraits are stripped of the backgrounds from which they emerge. The subject portrayed formally demonstrates a certain volumetric character. It is then that he feels the desire or need to bring those figures into three dimensions. His sculpture studies provide him with the theoretical and technical information to begin constructing a sculptural discourse, a work he continues to develop today.

With the body as an anchor, her most recent work is part of an investigation that revolves around the human being, in which she explores themes such as the mind, body language, the particular and the universal, the relationship with the other, time, and portraiture; concepts that, alongside formal aspects such as the importance of drawing, shape the structure of her work, acting both within and outside the form through the intervention of piano wires, wires, rods, and steel mesh. It is a three-dimensional drawing that traverses space, incorporating emptiness into the work, a light drawing that dialogues with the volume by traversing or enveloping it, establishing boundaries, spaces, and generating structures like a grid.
